DESMONTE is a piece for pre-recorded voice and electronics exploring vocal timbre beyond the limits of the body and the failures of machine listening. The work is part of a long-term study on the so-called "automated dialect recognition" a proprietary software in use by the Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge since 2017 on cases of undocumented asylum seekers in Germany.
